Need something polished for a holiday party—or just want to feel chic while hosting at home?
A silk maxi skirt is one of those magical wardrobe pieces that instantly add elegance and sophistication—with very little effort.
I’ve been searching for the perfect silk maxi for a while now, and I finally found “the one.” It’s the ideal combo of elegance and affordability.
In this post, I’m sharing two chic (yet, effortless) ways to style a silk skirt for the holidays—from festive cocktail parties to cozy family gatherings.

ways to style a silk skirt
Quince Silk Maxi Skirt
The Quince silk maxi skirt is one of those rare pieces that looks and feels luxurious, but won’t break the bank. The luxe silk fabric catches the light beautifully, and is lightweight enough to create just the right amount of movement. And, yet, the weight of the silk is heavy enough so it drapes beautifully.
And the best part? It’s washable. Oh, and did I mention it’s under $80? I know. Kinda hard to believe.
Whether you pair it with a sequin top for a holiday party, a cozy sweater for a dinner at home, or a structured blazer for something more modern, this skirt just works.
Silk Maxi & Sequin Top
For the first look, I paired the silk maxi skirt with a gorgeous sequin top from Generation Love. It’s body-skimming for a flattering, tailored fit—and fully lined, so there’s no itchiness (a must with sequins!). This is definitely the dressiest of the two looks I’m sharing. I’d wear this to a semi-formal holiday party, a work event, or a fancy dinner out. The sequins add just the right amount of glamour, and the monochromatic look feels elongating, slimming, and super sophisticated.
Do not forget your skirt slip! Unless you have a completely flat stomach and/or do not get bloated while eating or drinking, you will need it! I like this one by Commando.
Finishing Touches That Make the Look
Before we dive into the next outfit, I wanted to share the accessories I’m wearing with each of these looks. When you invest in some key accessories, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Have a few holiday ‘go-to’s’ at the ready.
For both looks, I kept accessories the same. I added sparkly chandelier earrings, classic Badgley Mischka pumps, and a Loeffler Randall sequin clutch. These festive touches really add just the right amount of pop, while still feeling accessible and not over the top.
Silk Maxi Skirt & Sweater
I wanted to show you a slightly more casual option too – this time with a classic off-the-shoulder sweater. There’s something so effortlessly elegant about showing a bit of collarbone, and pairing the softness of the silk with a cozy knit adds that perfect contrast of textures.
Instead of tucking in a bulky sweater (which can add unwanted volume around the waist), this sweater is on the shorter side and has a gathered bottom so it still creates a beautiful shape. Letting the sweater drape off the shoulder is a sexy, yet elegant touch. The luxe-looking, flattering, tonal color palette keeps you looking elongated, taller and leaner.
Remember with a skirt this light, it’s best to have a skirt slip to smooth things out. I like this one by Commando.
Whether you’re headed to a festive cocktail party, a cozy family dinner, or just want to feel a little more elevated this season, a silk skirt is that one piece that can do it all. I hope these outfit ideas help take the guesswork out of getting dressed and inspire you to try something new this holiday season. Because when you feel confident in what you’re wearing… it shows. ✨ Happy Holidays!
