Walking into your bedroom should bring you comfort. Unlike a kitchenette, living room, or patio, your bedroom is a place just for you (and your partner and/or pets, if applicable). You don’t need to worry about impressing guests with sophisticated wall art or trendy new furniture; your bedroom should look as unique or simple as you want it to be. However, you do still need to furnish it, which can be like playing a game of Jenga, especially if you’re dealing with a small living space like me.
It may seem counterintuitive to say furnishing a small space takes extra time, but it often requires more creativity to fit the essentials like a bed, dresser, and nightstand into a smaller bedroom while still incorporating fun decorative elements and a few extras, because a modest room doesn’t mean you have to be a minimalist. That’s why I turned to Tiffany Fasone, home stager and CEO of Philadelphia-based Voila Design Home, for her tips on making a cramped bedroom stylish and functional using only items from West Elm.
