Was Mamdani HQ screen hacked with ‘Trump is your president’? Here’s the truth

Claim:

In November 2025, a screen at New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s headquarters was hacked with a message that read, “Trump is your president.”

Rating:

After Zohran Mamdani’s historic victory in the New York mayoral election on Nov. 4, 2025, social media posts claimed a screen at his headquarters had been hacked with a message reading, “Trump is your president.”

Posts shared across Instagram, Facebook and X (archived here, here and here) included a video showing a large group of people gathered while a screen in the background displayed the message. The footage also included a PBS News logo in the bottom left corner.

In reality, there was no evidence that a hack occurred. The footage in question actually showed live election night news coverage discussing U.S. President Donald Trump’s reaction to Mamdani’s win. A since-deleted White House X post displaying the message “Trump is your president” was part of that coverage.

We traced the clip shared online to a PBS News livestream (archived) showing an election-night watch party for Mamdani. The footage in question begins at the 1:48:48 mark. In that livestream video, a blurry but visible “Spectrum News” logo can be seen near the bottom left corner of the screen.

A Spectrum News spokesperson also confirmed to Snopes via email that the event screen showed Spectrum News NY1’s live election night coverage, which included discussion of Trump’s reaction to Mamdani’s victory. The spokesperson wrote:

During Spectrum News NY1’s live election night coverage, which was being shown on a large screen at the Mamdani event, the newscast discussed reaction to the Mamdani victory from President Trump. The official White House X account shared a since-deleted image with text “Trump is Your President,” which was shown on screen in the context of that discussion.

Since-deleted White House post

The since-deleted White House X post featured an image styled like the New York Knicks logo. It read, “Trump is your president,” seemingly referencing Mamdani’s win.

At the time of publication, it remained unclear why the White House deleted the post. We asked the White House for clarity and will update this story if we receive a response.

Trump was openly critical of Mamdani during the mayoral race, referring to him in a Nov. 3 Truth Social post (archived) as a communist and suggesting he might cut federal funding if Mamdani were elected. Trump added that New York would be a “complete and total economic and social disaster” under Mamdani.

In sum …

A video circulating on social media did not show a “hack” at Mamdani’s headquarters on election night. Instead, it showed a newscast covering Trump’s reaction to Mamdani’s win, including a since-deleted post from the official White House X account.
