Claim:
U.S. President Donald Trump said, “I got an MRI, it was perfect. They found nothing. The doctors were amazed. They said of all the MRIs done on presidents going back to George Washington, this is the first time nothing was found.”
Rating:
In early November 2025, a quote attributed to U.S. President Donald Trump spread on social media in which he allegedly compared his “perfect” MRI scan to all MRIs done on previous presidents, including the first president, George Washington.
Per numerous posts on Facebook, Trump allegedly said:
I got an MRI, it was perfect. They found nothing. The doctors were amazed. They said of all the MRIs done on presidents going back to George Washington, this is the first time nothing was found.
(Facebook user “John Colbert”)
Trump did not compare his MRI scan to one purportedly given to Washington, but he did admit to having a “perfect” MRI scan in October 2025. The above quote appears to be making fun of his previous comments about his MRI scan. As such we rate this claim as an incorrect attribution.
We searched for variations of the purported quote on Google and found no reliable sources or video evidence of Trump making the above statement.
A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan is used to take images of internal body structures to help evaluate and diagnose medical conditions. Trump said he had such a scan in off-the-cuff comments he made while on Air Force One.
On Oct. 27, 2025, Trump responded to questions about his medical report while speaking to reporters on Air Force One (emphasis, ours):
REPORTER: Walter Reed mentioned advanced medical imaging. Did you get an MRI? Can you tell us what that was?
TRUMP: I did, I got an MRI. It was perfect. Yep. I gave you the full results. We had an MRI in the machine, the whole thing, and it was perfect, yeah.
REPORTER: Yeah. Can you say what in particular they were?
TRUMP: You could ask the doctors. In fact, we have doctors traveling with us, but I think they gave you a very conclusive—nobody has ever given you reports like I gave you. And if I didn’t think it was going to be good either I would let you know negatively, I wouldn’t run, I’d do something. But the doctor said some of the best reports for the age, some of the best reports they’ve ever seen.
REPORTER: One theory on how you might try to serve a third term is that you could run as the Vice President.
TRUMP: Yeah, I’d be allowed to do that. […] You’d be allowed to do that, but I wouldn’t do that.
He can be overhead saying the above at the 26-minute mark below:
While Trump did describe his MRI results as “perfect” and “the best reports for the age” he did not compare himself to Washington, who was president from 1789 to 1797, long before MRI scans existed.
Trump did not specify why he received an MRI scan. An October 2025 letter written by his doctor did not mention an MRI scan, only stating that the president underwent “advanced imaging” tests and “laboratory testing.” Trump’s physician said in the letter released by the White House that the president was in “excellent overall health.” In July 2025, the physician wrote that the president took aspirin as part of his “cardiovascular prevention regimen.” In the same report, the physician revealed that Trump had “chronic venous insufficiency,” a “benign and common” condition.
The above quotation is likely poking fun at Trump’s penchant for hyperbole. Snopes has previously covered authentic Trump quotes like, “Nobody knows what a magnet is” as well as analyzed rumors claiming Trump said former Vice President Kamala Harris’ proposed policies would create “bread lines” in the U.S.
