Rating:

A rumor that circulated online in November 2025 claimed a video showed a “racist cop” kicking a Black FBI agent out of a coffee shop.

On Nov. 10, a user managing the Bowmayladastory Facebook page posted the alleged police body camera video with the caption, “Racist Cop Kicks Out a Black FBI Agent From Coffee Shop — Now It’s Costing Him $6 Million. original video : Channel You tube : Bodycam Justice Files.” One Snopes reader emailed, “I can’t find any corroboration for this story.”

In the first 15 seconds of the video, a male officer tells a Black woman sitting outside with a coffee cup, “You need to leave. Now.” The woman responds, “What? I’m just having coffee.” He replies, “Manager says you’re making people uncomfortable. You’re trespassing.” She then explains she purchased coffee at the location and shows a badge, identifying herself as a special agent with the FBI.

For the remaining 23 minutes, the video shows the same still images of the scene with a narrator telling a lengthy story. The narrator identifies the pair as Seattle police Officer Craig Bartlett and 16-year FBI veteran Jennifer Monroe. The narrator also says the interaction occurred at a coffee shop in downtown Seattle.

In short, the video was fake and created with artificial intelligence. Searches of Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google and Yahoo found no news media outlets reporting any news of a Seattle police officer harassing a Black FBI agent, nor did other searches find news of a “Craig Bartlett” interacting with “Jennifer Monroe.”

Bodycam Justice Files, the YouTube channel referenced in the Facebook post caption, hosted the same inauthentic video (archived) from Nov. 8. The text description falsely claimed the incident sparked “national outrage, a $6 million lawsuit and major police reforms,” and called it “a true story of bias, accountability and justice.” The YouTube video’s thumbnail image displayed the quotes “I look suspicious?” and “Say that again.”

Snopes contacted the Bowmayladastory Facebook page owner via Messenger to ask about their inauthentic content, as well as whether anyone pays them to post the fake videos. The Bodycam Justice Files YouTube channel did not display any email addresses or other means of external communication.

Digging into the rumor

The inauthentic video alleging to show a “racist cop” kicking a Black FBI agent out of a coffee shop displayed several signs of being generated with AI.

For example, the opening clip with dialogue lasted exactly 15 seconds, indicating the user who first posted the video used an AI tool with a maximum creation length of 15 seconds.

The fast, forceful and loud manner of speaking between the officer and woman resembled the same speaking patterns existing in AI-generated videos in late 2025.

The video’s narrator explained the incident occurred in downtown Seattle, yet no tall buildings were visible in the clip.

The woman displayed her badge in an unnatural-seeming manner by showing the badge to the officer about five seconds before verbally identifying herself as a special agent with the FBI.

The Bodycam Justice Files YouTube channel and video’s text description both displayed disclaimers, though neither disclaimer explicitly identified the content as AI-generated. The disclaimer under the video read:

This video is for educational and documentary purposes only. All footage and information shown are from credible public sources. We do not support or promote violence, discrimination, harassment, or illegal behavior. Content is included strictly for news reporting, analysis, and accountability in compliance with YouTube’s Community Guidelines.

An endless sea of similar AI videos

Other videos visible on the Bodycam Justice Files YouTube channel and Bowmayladastory Facebook page also featured brief AI-generated clips followed by lengthy videos displaying still images with AI-voiced narration.

On the YouTube channel, two examples included “Racist Neighbor Calls 911 on Black Man Moving In – He’s the Boston Police Chief” and “Racist Cop Arrests a Black FBI Agent at His Own Apartment Door – Now It’s Costing Him $7 Million.”

Similar popular videos on the Facebook page displayed the titles “City Cop Pulls Over Black U.S. Marshal – Ends His Own Career” and “Racist Woman Calls 911 on Two Black Women Checking Into Their Airbnb- She Regrets Her Decision.”

These fake videos also featured 15-second AI-generated introduction clips followed by lengthy narrator stories, as well as fast, forceful and loud speaking.
