The New York musician Wendy Eisenberg is a big part of the improvisational avant-garde world. She leads the band Editrix. She’s one third of Squanderers, a supergroup with veterans Kramer and David Grubbs. She’s in claire rousay’s live band, and she’s got plenty of other ventures and collaborations going. Somewhere in there, Eisenberg also releases her own solo music. Earlier this year, Eisenberg signed to Joyful Noise and released the one-off single “I Don’t Miss You.” Today, she follows that one with a new song called “Will You Dare.”
Given how adventurous Wendy Eisenberg’s music can often be, it’s interesting to learn that “Will You Dare” is a relatively straightforward country-folk tune. Acoustic guitars and pedal steel softly encircle Eisenberg’s voice while she sings about the mental obstacles that always stop us from doing things we should do. She says, “It’s a simple little song about true love and the passage of time. ‘Will you dare’ is the real question — do you dive into the impossibility of true love, be shameless, even though if you’re doing it right it’ll rip you to shreds?” Check it out below.
