Lorde and ‘Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink Dance to ‘Green Light’ at O2

Lorde gave Sadie Sink the “Green Light” to absolutely let it rip during the singer’s show at the London O2 Arena on Sunday night (Nov. 16). The Stranger Things star was a surprise special guest during the first of two shows at the arena on Lorde’s ongoing Ultrasound world tour in support of her fourth album, Virgin.

Video of the moment where the two women jam out like everyone is looking — bouncing around and flipping their hair, holding hands and shouting the lyrics to the ebullient lead single from Lorde’s 2017 sophomore album Melodrama — was posted by the NME. As the stage is bathed in, duh, green light, the pair let loose and dance without inhibition, with Lorde shouting “get the f–k up!” at one point as the party rages on, ending with them sharing a sweet hug at the end.

The surprise get together is not completely out of the blue. Sink recently starred in the Tony-nominated Broadway play John Proctor Is the Villain, which NME pointed out prominently features “Green Light.” Speaking to Vogue in June about the song’s use in the play about a group of Appalachian students in Georgia reading Arthur Miller’s The Crucible in the midst of the #MeToo movement, Sink revealed that she’s a Lorde superfan.

“Oh my God, I’m a huge Lorde fan. I’m so excited for the new album,” Sink said at the time. “Solar Power was such an important album for me. To follow an artist through her many different eras…she really was that person for me.” Lorde returned the favor, going to see the show on Broadway in July.

Lorde will play the O2 again on Monday night (Nov. 17), with the European leg of her tour running through a Dec. 9 date in Stockholm before winding down for the year on Dec. 16-17 with a double-down at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. She will pick up again in February with a run of dates in Australia and New Zealand.

In addition, Lorde has just been announced as a headliner for next year’s All Points East festival at London’s Victoria Park on Aug. 22, where she will perform alongside PinkPantheress, Zara Larsson and others.
