Footballhead Tease New Album. Share Sngle “Used To Be”: Listen

Footballhead come from Chicago and make big, churning, emo-grunge. Last year, they released their album Before I Die. Since then, they’ve cranked out a steady stream of singles. In September, they dropped their song “Hesitate” and played Riot Fest in their hometown. During their set, Footballhead debuted a new song called “Used To Be.” Today, that song is out, along with some news about the next Footballhead album.

Today, Footballhead share the studio version of “Used To Be,” a gleaming rocker with a big, merciless chorus. The song has a pretty amazing music video from directors Tom Conway and Chris Owsiany. The clip takes place in the pre-smartphone era, and it follows what happens when a working class rocker kid finds a big bag of what appears to be free money. There’s no dialog, even the subtitled kind, and it all just comes across through classic visual storytelling. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a video that worked this well on its own terms. Check it out below.

In the video’s YouTube description, Footballhead announce that their new album Weight Of The Truth is out March 2026 on Tiny Engines. That’s all the info that we have right now, but it’s something.
