It’s not easy bein’ Brat green. Early this year, as Brat Summer was seemingly simmering down at last, Charli XCX announced she was working on a movie for A24 called The Moment, starring herself and based on her own idea. (It’s just one of many film-related projects she’s been cooking up lately.) Now the teaser trailer is here, and personally, it’s getting me excited to see the full thing, which will be out in theaters Jan. 30.
The Moment is a mockumentary that takes us through the whirlwind few months after Charli released Brat, which we — and many others! — thought was the Best Album Of 2024. But assuming the role of 3-6-5 party girl isn’t always glamorous! Sometimes you’re overanalyzing your dance moves in the mirror. Sometimes you’re legitimately concerned your stage lighting is going to burn somebody’s corneas. Sometimes a cab driver has the audacity to remind you that “Boom Clap” exists.
It should be fun seeing Charli’s comedic chops in action. Aidan Zamiri directed The Moment, which also includes Rachel Sennott, Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd, Kylie Jenner, Hailey Benton Gates, Kate Berlant, Rosanna Arquette, Jamie Demetriou, and Charli’s frequent musical collaborator A. G. Cook, who is also doing the music for the film. Bump that teaser trailer below.
The Moment is out in theaters 1/30 via A24.
