Conway Announces New Album, Shares Roc Marciano Collab

Like his brother Westside Gunn and his cousin Benny The Butcher, Buffalo hardass Conway The Machine has been a prolific underground rap force for many years. We don’t get too many new albums in the last few weeks of the year, but we’re getting one from Conway, who will follow up last year’s Slant Face Killah with a new LP called You Can’t Kill God With Bullets. Based on Conway’s history and the album title, you should expect some extremely tough bars on this one.

We don’t have a tracklist for You Can’t Kill God With Bullets yet, and we don’t know which guests might appear on the record. But we do know that it’ll include contributions from producers Timbaland, AraabMuzik, the Alchemist, and Apollo Brown. I am very curious to hear Conway on a Timbaland beat.

On lead single “Diamonds,” Conway trades off tag-team bars with the endlessly vivid underground rap elder Roc Marciano, who’s been working with him since before he got famous-ish. Both rappers get off some truly ugly bars. Conway: “Spit in the face of a n***a daughter that I slaughtered/ Went from bricks in the water to opening brick-and-mortars.” Marci: “Knock the baby out the walker/ I ain’t talkin’ about dogs when they say a stray caught ya/ Long coat with the blade — babydoll, I’m the Daywalker.” I can already tell that I’m about to start using “babydoll, I’m the Daywalker” way too often in my day-to-day life. The tough, slow-dragging beat comes from Conductor Williams, another longtime Conway collaborator. Listen below.

You Can’t Kill God With Bullets is out 12/12 via Roc Nation Distribution. Roc Marciano and DJ Premier’s collaborative album The Coldest Profession came out in August.
