  • This section will have ready-made AI templates powered by Nano Banana, which help you to create images instantly based on popular edits, “put me in a high-fashion photoshoot,” or “create a professional headshot,” and soon, Google will also roll out its first personalized templates in the US, which use insights from your phone gallery to create unique photo styles for you.
  • If you captured an image where you are not satisfied with the results, maybe you were wearing glasses that don’t match your face shape, had an odd facial smile, or want to adjust some facial details, you can fix all of it just by using a prompt.
  • Just describe what you want, whether you want to remove an object from the background or mirror reflections, you can do anything and Google is also bringing the redesigned photo editor to iOS, so you can edit via simple gestures, one-tap suggestions and now, natural language.

A few days back, Google Photos received six major updates after the integration of Gemini, bringing new AI-powered editing, creative tools, and Lens features together. We tested all the features one by one, and all of the features performed really well except one.

The integration is not limited to normal A.I features, but it’s beyond that, because this time Google Photos brings the power of Gemini together with Nano Banana, Google’s advanced image-editing model, unlocking a whole new level of creative and intelligent photo tools.

Things you can do with AI in Google Photos

Here’s a quick look at all the new features in the Google Photos app:

1. Fix Images Using Text Prompts

If you captured an image where you are not satisfied with the results, maybe you were wearing glasses that don’t match your face shape, had an odd facial smile, or want to adjust some facial details, you can fix all of it just by using a prompt.

You just need to follow simple steps:

Open the photo > Click on “edit” > Tap on “Help me edit” > Write your prompt

As soon as you enter the prompt, it will start processing, and your desired output will be generated

2. Text and Voice-based Edits on iOS

If you are a US-based iOS user, this update is for you. Google Photos now lets you edit your pictures using a simple text or voice command, without using manual adjustment tools or sliders. Just describe what you want, whether you want to remove an object from the background or mirror reflections, you can do anything and Google is also bringing the redesigned photo editor to iOS, so you can edit via simple gestures, one-tap suggestions and now, natural language.

You just need to follow simple steps:

Open the photo > Click on “edit” > Tap on “Help me edit” > Write your command

This update is currently limited to the US-based iOS users, and soon it will be deployed for all iOS users.

3. Redesign Your Photos with Nano Banana

As I already mentioned above, the Google Photos integration with Nano Banana allows you to transform your images in entirely new ways. Just open a photo, tap on “Help me edit,” and describe the style you want. For example, transform a normal photo into a vintage film photo with grainy textures.

4. Edit Your Photos with AI Templates

Sometimes, creating your own prompt can be confusing when you’re trying to generate or edit an image with AI. To make things easier, Google Photos is adding a new “Create with AI” section to the Create tab on Android in the U.S. and India. This section will have ready-made AI templates powered by Nano Banana, which help you to create images instantly based on popular edits, “put me in a high-fashion photoshoot,” or “create a professional headshot,” and soon, Google will also roll out its first personalized templates in the US, which use insights from your phone gallery to create unique photo styles for you.

But in our testing, the output generated by this feature was not up to the mark; Google has to work on this particular feature a lot.

5. Get Information Using the “Ask” Button

While viewing any image on your device, the new “Ask” button makes it super easy to interact with your photos. Just tap it, and you can instantly start a conversation about what’s in the picture. Want to know more about something in the image? Curious if you have similar photos? It will answer all your questions

6. Support For 17 New Languages

Now “Ask Photos” will help you find specific photos by simply writing a description, and this feature will not be limited to only English, you can write in 17 new languages.

If I tell you my opinion on this feature, this is impressive because before this feature, if I had to search for any specific picture, I had to do it manually, which takes lots of effort, but this makes things easier.

FAQs

Q. Do these new Google Photos AI features work on all devices?

Some features like text and voice-based editing are only available for iOS users in the U.S. Other tools, such as AI templates and the Ask Photos feature, are rolling out slowly to different countries and devices. So, depending on where you live and what device you use, you might get these updates a little later.

Q. Is Nano Banana available for every photo editing option?

While Nano Banana is being rolled out to all users, the feature may not work on certain type of images. You should prefer using normalimage formats like JPEG, JPG, PNG, etc., for better compatibility.

Wrapping Up

The latest AI upgrades in Google Photos make editing and managing your pictures feel smoother and more fun than ever. With Gemini and Nano Banana doing the heavy lifting in the background, you can change the look of your photos with a simple prompt.
