Gojira vocalist and guitarist Joe Duplantier sadly injured his hand to the point where it required surgery to fix it. Duplantier has announced that he won’t be playing guitar for Gojira live during their upcoming France shows, and instead has recruited Car Bomb guitarist Greg Kubacki to fill in.
“A message from Joe… Hey! I hurt my hand a few weeks ago,” wrote Duplantier. “After getting minor surgery, I’m on the mend but unfortunately I won’t be able to play all my guitar parts on the next tour in France…
“No worries though, we hired our good friend @carbombgreg of the incredible @carbombofficial to ‘Give us a hand’. The mood in our camp is up there though, as we’re embarking for an interesting experience on our own turf. Show must go ooooon.”
Maybe Gojira will finally play more The Way of All Flesh tracks on this trek? I know one of the big hangups with playing that material is that Duplantier said it’s hard as hell to play and sing it live (which isn’t shocking). Anyway, go see Gojira at one of the dates below – and get well soon, Joe!
