On October 28th, Limp Bizkit lost their founding bassist, Sam Rivers, suddenly to a cardiac arrest episode, on top of what has already been a grim 2025 for major losses (Brent Hinds, Ozzy Osbourne, Daniel Williams). After his death was announced last month, Limp Bizkit confirmed they still intended on performing in Mexico City on November 29th, and last night, they took to the stage for the first time without Rivers.
Ahead of the band’s set last night, a video tribute was played in memory of Sam Rivers with his name printed above “Our Brother Forever” and “We Love You Forever” towards the end.
This also comes after the drummer of Limp Bizkit, John Otto, posted to his Instagram before showtime,
“Today is going to be tough. A first I never wanted to experience. Especially not now. You’ve been there for so many major firsts in my life. Some of my earliest memories were made with you. We grew up together. Laughed together. together. Realized our dreams together. And traveled the world together. You’ve always been there. The godfather to my girls, my best friend-my brother. There will never be another you. We’re going to honor the life you lived and the love you spread with every show we play. You’ll always be with us.
Thank you to our fans for all the messages of support and tributes to Sam. It means the world to us.
This one’s for you, Sammy.”
