Vidar Landa has played guitar for the great Norwegian death ‘n’ roll band Kvelertak ever since they got started in 2007. For the past year or so, Landa has also gone in an extremely different direction with his solo side project King Hüsky. As King Hüsky, Landa carefully crafts pretty, catchy, gentle indie pop. Earlier this year, he released his self-titled full length debut and followed it up with the one-off single “Don’t Let It Bring You Down.” Today, we get one last King Hüsky song before the year’s end.
King Hüsky’s new single “December95” is a tender, lovely, nostalgic Christmas song full of soft harmonies and chiming acoustic guitars. Here, Vidar Landa goes deep into childhood nostalgia. Even on the shred-happy, fuzzed-out guitar solo, Landa keeps the comfy vibe intact. Listen below.
