Water From Your Eyes’ It’s A Beautiful Place is one of the Best Albums Of 2025. If you haven’t listened to it yet, go do that right now, and then come back to listen to its follow-up It’s Beautiful, a new EP comprising reworked versions of three album highlights.
For this project Nate Amos and Rachel Brown reimagined It’s A Beautiful Place tunes “Nights In Armor,” “Born 2” (titled “Born 4” here), and “Playing Classics” (now named “Driving Classics, Playing Cars”). Amos says in a press release:
The new versions of “Born 2” and “Nights In Armor” are actually just closer to how the songs existed in their original form. People were asking me about the original 10+ minute version of “Playing Classics” and I can’t find it anymore, so I made a new one. Thought it would be funny if it was faster, too. I added car sound effects because cars are fast.
The reworked versions of these songs are expectedly sick. “Nights In Armor” gets pared down until it’s just Brown’s voice and an acoustic guitar, morphed into a 7/4 time signature (we asked Brown to confirm because counting the beats is tricky). “Born 4” replaces a guitar line with what sounds like a viola, and “Driving Classics, Playing Cars” is delightfully ridiculous. It’s Beautiful is out now via Matador.
