Have a Cozy Weekend. | Cup of Jo

What are you up to this weekend? We’re decorating our Christmas tree tonight, and tomorrow I’m going to see the new Oedipus, a modernized version that follows a politician and his wife on election night. I’ll report back! Hope you have a good one, and here are a few links from around the web…

What’s on your holiday wishlist? Here’s mine, plus an advent calendar for word-lovers. (Big Salad, free to read)

Three chefs tried a bunch of grocery store chocolate ice cream, and they agreed on the winner.

What do you think of the color melting hair trend?

A holiday gift guide for the neurodivergent baddie in your life.

Pretty top for kissing at parties.

20 things I learned from having sex with 20 people. “Sometimes the best sex is the least kinky… IMO, nothing beats some vanilla ass shit with someone who really turns you on.”

Mortadella cookies. (NYTimes gift link)

Will you see the new George Clooney movie? I hear Adam Sandler steals the show.

What 6-7 reveals about childhood curiosity.

Awww, the kindness of strangers. xoxo

Plus, three reader comments:

Says Kaff on what foods are meaningful to you: “My husband has been sober for eight years, and ice cream has come to play a role in all our family’s adventures — the way Champagne or beer might for someone else. We toast with ice cream. We stop for an ice cream in a new city. We crack open a cold pint after working hard in the yard. We’ve become whatever the ice cream equivalent of a microbrew-beer-snob/wine-connoisseur is. Ice cream lets us celebrate in a way that feels familiar but unburdened. I will always be happy to share a cone or sundae with the people I love.”

Says Abby on 10 no-spend gifts: “My friend loves to cook but hates to chop onions — her eyes are very sensitive to the fumes. She joked that she wished someone would give her the gift of never chopping onions again. So, I bought five pounds of onions, peeled and diced them, and ended up with enough to fill two big ziplock bags. I froze them and gave them to her for Christmas and (hooray!) she loved it! Truly my most inspired gift ever.”

Says Anon on 10 no-spend gifts: “Love the post, love the comments, love all of you. True holiday spirit.”
