Wireless microphone units are getting smaller and more powerful with each iteration. Ulanzi sent me the Mini Mic A200 to check out. The box that this system is packed in is smaller than many units when they have been stripped down. Looking forward to sharing what I discover about this mini mic.
This wireless mic is designed for creators. It automatically pairs with the receiver when you remove it from the case. It also turns on the noise cancellation automatically. When you figure in the low cost of entry, this might be a hard wireless mic set to beat.

Ulanzi Mini Mic A200 – In use
Ulanzi Mini mic has a greater range than I thought it might have. I walked out of my studio through the house with walls and doors. It wasn’t until I got all the way through multiple rooms and another cement wall approximately 75 feet away that the signal started to break up a little. Turning around and facing back with a walk back to the receiver, the signal was picked back up clearly. Then I headed outside through an exterior door and walked about 100 feet away with my back to the receiver. While my body was facing away from the receiver, the signal began to break up at about 55 feet. When I turned back toward the unit, the signal at 100 feet was picked back up immediately.
This is the charging carry case. A numerical readout of remaining power feels better to me than the four led lights you usually see on electronic equipment.
Final thoughts
I enjoy the portability of wireless microphones. Not being tethered to a camera makes working as a solo creator is magical. When doing interviews allowing space for movement is wonderful as well.
Connection is automatic, instant and easy to see. There is plenty of battery power for recording time. Sound is clean. Noise cancellation keeps background noise down but allows the ambient sound to give a sense of place.
