Instagram is introducing a major update that promises to make Stories more creative and visually engaging, powered by new artificial intelligence (AI) tools. The feature, called “Restyle,” allows users to transform their photos and videos using simple text prompts—bringing a fresh, interactive way to edit content directly within the app.
According to Android Headlines, users will now be able to describe what they want changed in their Story, and the AI will handle the adjustments automatically. For instance, if a photo was taken against a white wall with visible stains, a quick request to remove the “dirt in the background” will clean it up instantly. While Instagram’s AI chatbot has existed for some time, this update shifts AI from being conversational to becoming a hands-on creative assistant.
The possibilities go well beyond small fixes. With Restyle, users can completely alter the atmosphere of an image—changing the lighting, weather, or background—or even generate imaginative, surreal scenes that were previously difficult to create without advanced editing skills. In short, AI is making professional-looking visual edits accessible to everyone.
Alongside the text-based editing, Instagram has also added preset filters that can be combined with AI effects for quick, polished results. Once the adjustments are done, users simply tap “Done” and share their Story as usual.
The rollout of these new tools has already begun, but not everyone will see them right away. Instagram is introducing the update gradually, so availability may vary by region and account. The company encourages users to check their app regularly to see if the feature has appeared in their Stories menu.
