Adobe Photoshop Gains Nano Banana Pro Integration

Adobe has expanded its ecosystem of AI-powered creative tools by integrating Google’s Gemini 3 (Nano Banana Pro) into Adobe Firefly and Photoshop. Announced on June 20, the update aligns with the company’s broader strategy of embedding multiple advanced AI models directly into its creative software, allowing users to develop and refine ideas without leaving Adobe’s environment.

The integration reflects the growing trend among creative professionals to work with several AI models simultaneously. According to a global study with more than 16,000 creative workers, over 60% reported using multiple AI systems to reach their desired results, selecting “the right tool for the right task.” Adobe aims to streamline this process by making the latest third-party models available within its applications, reducing the need for extra subscriptions or external tools.

Before this update, Adobe’s tools already included Gemini Flash Image 2.5 (Nano Banana) and models from partners like Black Forest Labs, ElevenLabs, Ideogram, Luma AI, Moonvalley, OpenAI, Pika, Runway, and Topaz Labs. The addition of Nano Banana Pro expands this ecosystem by offering higher-quality image generation, improved text rendering, and better application of concepts in real-world visual contexts.

With the new update, users can tap into Nano Banana Pro to help shape campaign concepts — and even have the model place those ideas into realistic real-world settings.

Within Firefly, the new model appears in the Text to Image tool, enabling users to create detailed visuals from prompts. It is also integrated into Firefly Boards, Adobe’s collaborative mood-board platform that enhances ideation and brainstorming with AI assistance.

In Photoshop, Nano Banana Pro boosts the capabilities of Generative Fill, the tool used to extend scenes, remove elements, and transform lighting or environments. With the updated model, users can produce more realistic, high-resolution content while still relying on Photoshop’s traditional editing features such as layers, masks, brushes, and selections. Adobe says this integration will help creatives achieve more efficient and consistent results.

With the new model, Photoshop’s Generative Fill becomes even more powerful. In the example image, the tool’s prompt is used to adjust the scene’s lighting — turning a daytime setting into night.

This update follows Adobe’s earlier improvements to Generative Fill, which added both the original Nano Banana and FLUX.1 Kontext [pro] from Black Forest Labs.

To encourage adoption, Adobe is offering unlimited image generation in Firefly until December 1. The offer includes Firefly’s own models and partner models—such as Nano Banana Pro—and is available to Creative Cloud Pro subscribers and Firefly plan users. The Firefly platform also recently expanded with native apps for Android and iOS, improving accessibility for mobile workflows.
