ALISSA WHITE-GLUZ On Her Path Beyond ARCH ENEMY: “I Am Excited To Let My Solo Work Stand On Its Own”

Former Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White-Gluz recently stepped into the spotlight under her own name, and the metal world is clearly watching. Her new single, “The Room Where She Died,” is the first taste of her upcoming debut solo album, and it has already triggered exactly what she herself calls an outpouring of “love and support” from fans.

On social media, Alissa White-Gluz shared a first glimpse of the record’s visual world, built with Stuttgart-based artist Stefan Heilemann. Alongside the artwork, she dropped a long, open-hearted message that gives a window into what this solo era means to her: “Wow. I am blown away by the outpouring of love and support I have received over the past few days”.

She tied that reaction directly to the upheaval of moving on from a major band and carving out a fresh identity: “Times of transition can be especially intense for the mind, body, and heart. I don’t take any of this lightly. But the overwhelmingly positive response to ‘The Room Where She Died’ has given me so much renewed energy and clarity about who I am as an artist and why I love singing and creating music.”

For a singer who’s spent years fronting a flagship extreme metal band, it’s a statement of ownership over everything she’s been quietly building.

“I am proud of the body of work I have been building for decades. After so many years of honing my skills as a vocalist, songwriter, and performer, absorbing and learning with every show, every album, every video, and every meet & greet, I am excited to let my solo work stand on its own. Here is a first look at some album aesthetics with a portrait by @heilemania. Thank you again for everything,” she concluded.

Musically, “The Room Where She Died” is not a random experiment but something firmly rooted in the world Alissa White-Gluz has moved through for years. The song itself was composed by Kamelot keyboardist Oliver Palotai, a name already familiar to fans of symphonic and melodic metal. For this track, though, Alissa White-Gluz took full control of the vocal side: she performed, recorded, and wrote all of the vocal parts herself.

When the single was released, she explained about its inception: “‘The Room Where She Died’ is a song that feels truly satisfying to me; like I get to express myself in so many ways that have been dormant for years. This upcoming album is diverse, and I love the idea of opening up this new chapter with this song and video, which I wrote the script for.”
