Down to the breathwork, multi instrumentalist and online content creator Anthony Vincent has not only his impression of Slipknot‘s Corey Taylor down pat, but the entirety of Slipknot as well. So much so, he was inclined to create an entire album of cover songs in the style of the band, and well – it’s a doozy (complimentary).
Picking from a variety of genres and time periods, featuring Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe,” Cardi B‘s “WAP,” House Of Pain‘s “Jump Around,” and Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz‘s “Get Low,” Anthony Vincent collects the best of his Slipknot-style singles and presents them as a full-piece of work on SlipNOT Volume 1, and it is both insane and brilliant. But it’s not only fun to have a chuckle at, it’s fun to listen to as well, and it’s like the collection of Punk Goes Pop albums, but all in Slipknot form.
Featuring ten songs – including one Christmas one – each of them feels like an ironic choice for a metalhead, but that makes it all the better. Well, bar Vincent‘s cover of Limp Bizkit‘s “Break Stuff,” accompanied by a music video that imitates all of the little things in daily life going wrong and well, how that makes you want to break shit. From running out of coffee creamer, to the self-checkout tills not working, to bad traffic, Vincent imitates all of it wearing Corey Taylor‘s self-titled mask and a fake NASA jumpsuit. And he did it all around Halloween – which is smart, given the fact that he is a terrifyingly masked man in public.
