BYD’s New Seal 07 EV Impresses With Modern Design and Power

BYD continues to expand its presence in the electric vehicle segment, particularly in China, with the introduction of a new model that highlights the company’s technological ambition and design evolution. The manufacturer is preparing to launch another fully electric sedan: the BYD Seal 07 EV, classified as a mid-size model and aimed at consumers seeking a blend of performance, modern styling, and advanced safety systems.

Information regarding the vehicle became public through official registration documents released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). These records confirm that the Seal 07 EV is equipped with a 240 kW electric motor, further supported by a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. This technology, based on laser beam detection, is typically associated with high-level driver assistance functions and enhances collision avoidance capabilities. The inclusion of LiDAR suggests that BYD is preparing the model for more advanced assisted driving features in the near future.

The exterior design follows BYD’s Ocean Aesthetics styling language, recognizable across the brand’s latest releases. At the front, the Seal 07 EV adopts a closed grille typical of electric vehicles, complemented by slim headlights and a three-part air intake design. At the rear, the vehicle features a full-width light bar, highlighted with chrome accents on the upper portion. Collectively, the car presents a sleek and contemporary profile, intended to appeal to buyers seeking a visually distinctive electric sedan.

Dimensions listed in the official filing show the Seal 07 EV measuring 4,995 mm (~16.39 feet) in length, 1,910 mm (~6.27 feet) in width, and 1,495 mm (~4.91 feet) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm (~9.52 feet). These proportions are nearly identical to those of the hybrid Seal 07 variant currently offered, though the electric model is noted to be slightly wider. The drivetrain is powered by BYD’s TZ200XYAT electric motor, produced in Nanjing, and paired with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by Zhengzhou Fudi Battery Co., Ltd. Battery capacity and driving range have not yet been disclosed, leaving performance details to be revealed closer to launch.

Pricing remains unconfirmed, but for context, the plug-in hybrid Seal 07 DM-i (launched in September 2025) currently sells in China between €18,000 and €23,000 (~$20,960 and ~$26,780). The electric variant is expected to be positioned accordingly within the market once official announcements are made.
