Cameron Winter Covers This Is Lorelei In LA

Last week Cameron Winter, whose band Geese made our favorite album of the year, played a spectacular-looking solo set at Carnegie Hall that Paul Thomas Anderson and Benny Safdie just so happened to be filming. It’s safe to say Winter is a full-fledged star now, and I imagine that Nate Amos — the Water From Your Eyes member who also makes playful indie pop as This Is Lorelei — will also earn that title soon enough. Last night during his first of two solo sets at LA’s Palace Theatre, Winter proved himself to be This Is Lorelei-pilled by covering “Where’s Your Love Now” from Amos’ excellent 2024 album Box For Buddy, Box For Star.

I’ll always appreciate the whimsy of Amos’ original “Where’s Your Love Now,” but it’s also pretty stunning to hear it in Winter’s voice with a grand piano. Per Setlist.fm, Winter also apparently debuted a brand-new song called “Sandbag,” though I haven’t found any videos of that one cropping up yet. Watch his “Where’s Your Love Now” cover below.

In other This Is Lorelei news, our most recent Album Of The Week was Holo Boy, a collection of re-recorded songs from Amos’ expansive Bandcamp catalog.
