A$AP Rocky is still being fairly vague about when he plans to finally drop his much-delayed new album Don’t Be Dumb, but I can’t really blame the guy — from acting in a new Spike Lee joint to going to trial to getting ready for baby number three, he’s been busy. Now the self-proclaimed Fashion Killa has another gig lined up, as Chanel has just named him their latest brand ambassador.
“Rocky is an incredible artist who puts his heart and soul into every project he’s involved in, in addition to being an incredible human being,” Chanel’s artistic director Matthieu Blazy said in a statement (Blazy was previously at Bottega Veneta, for whom Rocky appeared in a campaign last year). “Musician, actor, father, friend…he brings so much to the table and always delivers with kindness. We are thrilled to welcome him to Chanel and I’m thrilled to work together again.”
Rocky added: “Matthieu’s imagination is pushing fashion forward. His designs feel both sensitive and strong, they’re grounded in reality but at the same time, always invite one to wonder. I’m so excited to see him at Chanel.”
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry helmed a very aesthetically-pleasing short film for Chanel announcing the campaign, starring Rocky alongside Margaret Qualley as his love interest. See that below.
