Charlotte Day Wilson appears to be inching toward a new album. Last month the Toronto R&B singer dropped the svelte single “Selfish” upon us. She’s followed up that electronically infused jam today with another new song. “High Road” trades out the uptempo effervescence of the prior track in favor of lush, jazzy midtempo splendor, but the rhythmic grit remains. It lets Wilson lean into the depths of her alto range, maybe even to the point of androgyny. Listen below and see if you don’t feel like you just put on an extremely comfortable, extremely expensive sweater.
“High Road” is out now on Stone Woman Music/XL.
