CONVERGE Headline Saddest Day Festival, Play Multiple Tracks That Haven’t Been Performed In Over 10 Years

Despite being their drummer being the victim of a hit-and-run earlier on the Sunday, Converge put on a hell of a headlining show on Saturday night with a whopping 23-song set at their Saddest Day festival. Taking place in Boston, Massachusetts at the Roadrunner, Converge had a good run through their catalog, new and old, dusting off some tracks that haven’t seen the light of day in over 10 years.

The one-day festival was announced by the band themselves back in July, named after their 1996 hit, “Saddest Day,” with artists like Touché Amoré, Year Of The Knife, and Coalesce on the line-up. The festival also included an art exhibition curated by Converge frontman Jacob Bannon, which showcased his work alongside other interdisciplinary artists.

And just a few months later, on November 19th, the band announced their newest single, the title track of their upcoming record, Love Is Not Enough, to be released on February 13th. So, with a festival named after their 1996 single, and new music having just hit the airways, it was a very welcome, varied setlist.

Rolling out a near two-dozen songs to eagerly awaiting fans and a guest performance from Full Of Hell on “Axe To Fall,” Converge played “Towing Jehovah” for the first time since 2004 – 22 years ago, nearly, “Conduit” in 2008 – 18 years ago, “Lonewolves” in 2011 – 15 years ago, “My Unsaid Everything” in 2012 – 14 years ago… “Black Cloud” was also played for the first time since 2019, but those 7 years pale in comparison to the 22 it’s been since 2004.

You can check out the full setlist below, alongside some fan footage of the headlining set. Well, not just some of the set, all of the set. You can also pre-order the new record here.
