In 2024, David Draiman, the frontman of Disturbed, posted several pictures of himself visiting the IDF in Israel, one of which showed him signing a bomb that was presumably being used in the conflict in Palestine. With the UN hailing Israel’s actions as genocidal after nearly two years of worldwide civilian protests and firsthand footage of the war crimes, a lot of people have not taken too kindly to Draiman not only signing a bomb, but avidly supporting the IDF and defending his actions within an inch of his life.
Brussels in Belgium cancelled the Disturbed gig due to take place because of Draiman‘s actions and words, and Scotland wouldn’t even let the band perform. Famously pro-Palestine country Ireland actually let the gig go forward despite numerous protests from the Irish, concerned about giving a pro-Israel man a platform in a country that has such a long history of occupation itself.
And, because the Irish gig went forward, quite a few Irish citizens kicked up a fuss with the production company, MCD, who organised the show, as well as the Irish government for allowing them to play full stop.
One concerned person took to X to express their contempt for the idea of David Draiman and Disturbed performing in Ireland: “If there was someone shot in the head tonight in Cork City and my signature was found on the bullet, would you give me a gig @mcd_productions???? Ye will forever be a disgrace to this country if ye go ahead with this David [Draiman] gig next Wednesday in Dublin.”
American actor John Cusack agreed with the post, saying: “Anyone who signs a bomb is [psychotic].”
David Draiman wasted no time in defending himself, quickly responding with: “Hello @johncusack, my old friend. It isn’t psychotic to defend oneself from a genocidal death cult, hell bent on slaughtering you. What’s psychotic, is you defending that genocidal, Jew hating death cult, the way you have for years. You want psychotic? Look in the mirror.”

Unfortunately, Draiman has his facts slightly twisted in this situation – there is a genocide happening, but not against Israel. In fact, ICC declared that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been found guilty of war crimes against Palestine and is to be arrested when stepping into ICC jurisdiction. The UN also found that Israel has been committing a genocide in Gaza.
The gig went forward, Disturbed played in Dublin this past Wednesday, and as of Saturday, the 25th of October, he has spent his time absorbed in the Irish presidential election, retweeting right-wing propaganda against candidate Catherine Connolly, who currently holds 64% of the overall vote, with the other two candidates Jim Gavin and Heather Humphreys holding a mere 35% of the vote between the two of them. Gavin actually pulled out of the race before voting started, and Humphreys just succeeding two hours ago to Connolly. Despite overwhelming positivity about Connolly becoming the president of Ireland, Draiman has spent his time retweeting proven disinformation about Connolly.
