Did Jasmine Crockett call for federal investigation into Erika Kirk?

Claim:

U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, demanded a federal investigation into Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk for allegedly receiving a $350,000 transfer prior to the death of her husband, Charlie Kirk.

Rating:

A rumor that circulated online in October 2025 claimed U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, demanded a federal investigation into Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk for allegedly receiving a $350,000 transfer prior to the Sept. 10 death of her husband, conservative activist Charlie Kirk. According to the story, Erika Kirk received the payment from a Delaware shell company that vanished days later.

One Snopes reader emailed us a story request in the form of a statement reading, “Erica Kirk ‘receiving’ 350k wire transfer from a Delaware company that was dissolved 4 days later, and being called out by Jasmine Crockett.”

On Oct. 26, a user managing the Power & Progress Facebook page posted (archived) the claim and received tens of thousands of engagements. Users also shared the claim on Facebook (archived), Instagram (archived) and X (archived).

The Power & Progress page’s post featured a link to an advertisement-filled WordPress blog article. The post read as follows:

After leaked documents revealed a $350,000 transfer to Erica Kirk just weeks before her husband’s mysterious death, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett has broken her silence — and Washington is shaking.

“When ordinary people lose loved ones, they get grief. Not secret payments. That’s not sympathy — that’s guilt.”

Crockett is demanding a federal investigation, calling out a Delaware shell company that vanished days after wiring the money. She vows to uncover the truth — no matter who’s behind it.

“Follow the money. Every dollar tells a story.”

As the nation watches, one question echoes through Capitol Hill: Who really sent the money?

In short, the rumor Crockett called for a federal investigation into Erika Kirk was false. Facebook users residing outside the U.S. entirely fabricated the rumor, including the claim about the $350,000 transfer. The Power & Progress Facebook page’s “page transparency” tab revealed their managers resided in Vietnam, the Philippines and Indonesia.

The advertisements appearing with the WordPress blog article — containing text resembling stories generated with artificial-intelligence (AI) tools — indicated a clear profit motive. The article ended with several sentences of forward-thinking, dramatized statements in the same way AI tools conclude similar fabricated stories. For example, the final sentence read, “And as the Capitol lights burn late into the night, one thing is certain — this scandal is only just beginning.”

Other Facebook users shared variants of the story about Erika Kirk and the $350,000 transfer, but with comedian Dave Chappelle (archived), rapper Eminem (archived) and golfer Rory McIlroy (archived) named instead of Crockett as the person allegedly asking for a federal investigation.

Snopes contacted Crockett’s office and Turning Point USA to ask if they wished to comment about this false rumor. We also inquired with the Power & Progress page about the nature of their content and will update this story if we receive further information.

Similar ‘cover-up’ rumor

A similar untrue story users also shared (archived) in October 2025 featured a meme reading, “Breaking News: Jasmine Crockett alleges Charlie Kirk’s death was a cover-up for a massive financial fraud, accusing Erika Kirk and insiders of hiding the truth.” Users residing outside the U.S. also fabricated that story, including with at least one link leading to advertisement-filled article featuring AI-generated text.
