Dirt Buyer Shares New Single “Baseball”: Listen

Joe Sutkowski will return in February with Dirt Buyer III, his very appropriately-titled third album as Dirt Buyer. He announced the record last month with “Get To Choose,” which we liked very much, and I’m pleased to report I’m also really liking today’s follow-up single, the album opener “Baseball.”

“Baseball,” Sutkowski explains in a press release, is “about growing up with certain expectations and adhering to them for no reason other than doing what you’re told” and subsequently “gaining autonomy and independence.” The song uses America’s pastime as a bit of a metaphor for conformity, or at least the process of deciding whether or not to conform: “Baseball is somethin’ I’ll never get/ But I sleep on it, wake up, and try again,” Sutkowski sings over a slacker-rock chug.

Watch Trevor Adam Clarkson’s video for “Baseball” below. The filming location and prop of choice just might shock you.

Dirt Buyer III is out 2/6 via Bayonet.
