After reviving their Devil May Cry track “Afterlife” with a live performance at The Game Awards in Los Angeles earlier this month, Evanescence have now released a brand-new remix of the song.
The original version of “Afterlife” was written as Evanescence‘s contribution to Netflix’s animated adaptation of the popular action-adventure video game franchise Devil May Cry. For the remix, the band enlisted British synthwave outfit Gunship, who reimagined the track with a darker, electronic edge.
Alongside the remix release, Amy Lee shared an update on Evanescence‘s long-awaited next studio album, which will serve as the follow-up to 2021’s The Bitter Truth. Speaking with KROQ, Lee confirmed that the record is close to completion: “It’ll be out next year. I have a few more lyrics to write, but it’s going very well. I’m really excited about it.”
Lee previously expanded on the album’s progress during an interview with Loudwire Weekends host Kat Mykals at the Louder Than Life festival earlier this year.
“I’ve been working on a new album for a while,” Lee explained. “We’re really kind of rounding the corner. We have a lot of songs in progress and we’re looking to release our new album at the beginning of next year.” She later clarified that “the beginning of next year” doesn’t necessarily mean January, but rather early 2026.
Evanescence also recently announced their 2026 World Tour. Spiritbox and Nova Twins will open on the North American leg, and special guest Poppy will support on the UK & Europe leg with Nova Twins opening outside the UK.
