Gemini Web Gets New Design And Dark Mode Upgrade

Google has begun rolling out a redesigned interface for Gemini on the web, following earlier updates made to the Android and iOS apps. According to the company, the goal is to deliver a cleaner and more modern look, aligning the desktop experience with the refreshed mobile design. The update introduces both visual refinements and new organizational features, improving overall navigation and interaction with the AI service.

Among the first noticeable changes is the new greeting area, now showing the Gemini logo beside the welcome message. The prompt input box has been simplified by removing its previous outline, giving it a minimal and unobtrusive appearance. Meanwhile, suggestion chips have been repositioned and now appear centered below the text field, helping maintain visual balance. A major aesthetic modification is the update to the dark mode background, which shifts from dark gray to pure black (#000000), offering higher contrast and a more immersive interface. While the prompt field and sidebar retain their original tone, the light mode also receives a slightly darker shade, though no changes were made to chat message layout.

A more functional addition is the introduction of “My Stuff”, a new section located in the left sidebar. This area displays preview thumbnails of generated images, videos, and other media, acting as a quick-access library tailored for content produced during interactions. This improvement supports easier retrieval of media without revisiting entire conversations, highlighting Google’s effort toward enhanced media management inside Gemini.

Another update appears at the top of conversation screens through a new menu labeled “Gemini: Your Thinking Partner”. This drop-down control offers options to share, pin, rename, or delete conversations, centralizing key actions for improved workflow and personalization. Some users had previously reported glimpses of the redesign, but broad availability began on the 3rd. In addition to the new interface, Google recently expanded the rollout of Gemini 3 and Nano Banana Pro models across more countries, reinforcing continued development and accessibility within its AI ecosystem.
