Genshin Impact Version Luna 4 introduces three new playable characters, including the long-awaited Moon Maiden Columbina

Genshin Impact’s latest Special Program has spilled all the beans on the game’s next major update, Luna 4. The update, which arrives on January 14, kicks off 2026 with several bits of new content, including some previously-teased characters.

Dubbed Traveler on a Winter’s Night, Luna 4 introduces three new playable characters, and brings back The Lantern Rite event to celebrate the beginning of the new year.

The first new arrival in Version Luna 4 is Columbina Hyposelenia, the Moon Maiden. Columbina is a 5-Star Hydro Catalyst wielder. Her kit revolves around supporting the squad via Lunar Reactions. She can trigger coordinated Lunar Reaction DMG, even when she’s off the field.

The Moon Maiden’s special ability, Lunar Domain, further boosts all Lunar Reactions by applying a DMG bonus, including summoning more thundercloud strikes for Lunar-Charged reactions. Columbina is also capable of converting Electro-Charged, Bloom, and Hydro Crystallize reactions into Lunar Reactions, as well as revive fallen squad members.

Speaking of elemental reactions, new in this version is Lunar-Crystallize, a new reaction that’s triggered when Geo meets Hydro (under certain conditions). When triggered, Lunar-Crystallize summons three Moondrifts near enemies. When triggered three times, Moondrift Harmony gets activated, dealing Geo DMG to enemies caught in its radius.

Then there’s Zibai, an Adeptus from Liyue. Zibai is another 5-Star character, a Geo Sword wielder. Zibai can, through entering a special state where they can build up energy, unleash an Elemental Skill that deals Lunar-Crystallize DMG.

The longer the fight goes on, the more Lunar-Crystallize reactions are triggered, the higher (and more often) the damage of Zibai’s Elemental Skill becomes.

Luna 4 continues the Nod-Krai story arc, with a big confrontation with Il Dottore. This is the focus of the new Archon Quest, completing which will earn you a new outfit. There’s a gameplay element to that new chapter, too, with the reveal of Piramida, a new area north of the region. Piramida is the headquarters of the Lightkeepers.

The first phase of Luna 4’s Event Wishes will, unsurprisingly, feature Columbina. It’ll also include reruns of Ineffa. The second phase is when Zibai becomes available, alongside another newcomer: Illuga, a 4-Star, polearm-wielding Geo Lightkeeper. The second phase’s rerun will be Neuvillette, who’s also going to have a new outfit in the shop at a discount.

Version Luna 4 brings back the annual Lantern Rite event, taking place in the mainland of Liyue. The event features its own set of minigames with unique rewards, alongside new stories of the Adepti.

All around Liyue Harbor, you’ll be able to place Xiao Lanterns and inscribe them with messages for others to read. You’ll also earn some Fortune Coins from Auspicious Treasure Trees, which you can later exchange for gifts.

All players will receive 1,600 Primogems through the in-game mail. If you log in regularly, you can earn up to ten Intertwined Fates. Lantern Rite has a new outfit for Yaoyao, which is also where you have a chance to earn one 4-Star Liyue character for free.

Finally, you can look forward to the new Classic Mode in Miliastra Wonderland, which lets you invite select Teyvat characters to join you.
