Warmer Than Gold, the new album from Guv (fka Young Guv), is arriving next month. Ben Cook announced the return of his power-pop band with the lead single “Let Your Hands Go,” and today he’s back with the album’s title track. Cook has evidently been aiming for a psychedelic Britpop inspired on this record, and the reverbed-out “Warmer Than Gold” fits right in line with that: “And there’s nothing here now/ It’s all gone/ And there’s something in the air/ I won’t stay long,” he sings despondently.
I previously said “Let Your Hands Go” sounds “a bit like Oasis on acid,” but the self-directed video for “Warmer Than Gold” sees Cook going full Gallagher mode. Check that out below.
