Is Harrison Ford starring in live-action ‘Up’ remake?

A rumor that circulated online in November 2025 that Harrison Ford would star in an upcoming live-action version of the animated film “Up” as the film’s main character, Carl Fredricksen. Snopes readers emailed us to ask whether the rumor was true.

However, there was no evidence to support the rumor that Disney and Pixar were working on a live-action version of “Up” starring Harrison Ford. The claim was false.

Searches of Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google and Yahoo found no news media outlets reporting about the live-action remake, and it did not have a page on IMDb. Prominent entertainment outlets (and fan blogs dedicated to covering Disney’s activities) would have reported on the project if it were legitimate.

Instead, Snopes found severaltrailers” for the supposed movie on YouTube that were generated by artificial-intelligence tools. The purported trailers contained obvious signs of AI generation, including an inhuman voice-over, fotoage of Ford moving in an unnatural manner and camera shots with strange focal effects.

Fake movie posters and trailers are commonplace online, and generative AI tools have allowed users to create a significantly higher volume of them, generally looking receive advertising revenue if the social media post goes viral. Snopes has covered other fake movie trailers in the past, including a supposed live-action “Simpsons” movie starring Adam Sandler and a James Bond movie starring Henry Cavill.
