Claim:
In late October 2025, posts shared on social media showed a genuine news release announcing that U.S. President Donald Trump was selling pieces of the demolished White House East Wing on his website.
Rating:
Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to demolish the East Wing of the White House in October 2025 in order to build a ballroom, posts spread online supposedly announcing that pieces of the East Wing would be available for sale on Trump’s website. The claims were accompanied by an image of a purported news release:
OWN A PIECE OF THE WHITE HOUSE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington, D.C. – Supporters can now own a piece of the White House through the East Wing Rubble Collection, available exclusively at TheTrumpStore.com. Each fist-sized fragment, preserved from the East Wing restoration, comes vacuum sealed with an official Certificate of Authenticity signed by Donald Trump’s Autopen. Priced at $500 per piece, these historic keepsakes embody the strength, renewal, and enduring greatness of the American spirit.
Users shared versions of the claim on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit and X, while Snopes readers wrote in asking us whether the announcement was real.
The posts were fake, however. As of this publication, there was no public information suggesting the sales campaign was real. We reached out to the White House to ask for comment on the matter and will update this story if we receive a reply.
Reverse image searching with the image included alongside the posts revealed only social media posts making the claim — not any reliable sources of information. The URL listed in the post, “TheTrumpStore.com,” did not exist, and neither the Trump.com website nor the White House gift shop website was advertising pieces of the East Wing for sale.
Searching for the exact wording used in the supposed news release also revealed no results.
The post’s general wording — particularly, its mention of “Donald Trump’s Autopen,” seemingly a reference to claims Trump has made about pardons signed by former President Joe Biden — gave the general appearance of satire. We could not definitively determine a satirical origin for the claim, however.
