Hey, writers can sometimes do other things, too! The British-born artist Joshua Idehen came up in London’s poetry scene, and he’s made music with artists like Sons Of Kemet. He moved to Stockholm during the pandemic. Last yaer he recorded the single “Mum Does The Washing” with Ludvig Parment, the Swedish dance producer who records as Saturday, Monday. Next year, Idehen will release an entire album produced by Parment.
In a few months, Joshua Idehen will release his debut album I Know You’re Hurting, Everyone Is Hurting, Everyone Is Trying, You Have Got To Try. We’ve already posted the single “It Always Was,” and now Idehen’s got a new song called “Don’t Let It Get You Down.” It’s got Idehen dispensing energized life advice over a lush, string-soaked house track from Ludvig Parment, and Idehen apparently got the track out of Parment by constantly asking him to “make more house.” It sounds a bit like the cool-kid club version of “Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen).” Listen below.
I Know You’re Hurting, Everyone Is Hurting, Everyone Is Trying, You Have Got To Try is out 3/6 on Heavenly.
