You know that one screen grab from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, with Charlie Kelly tapped out of his head, standing in front of a wall full of interconnected red string – that’s what it feels like trying to decipher some of these band’s interconnections with one another. Especially when there was the chaotic split of Every Time I Die, which can take some time to look back into. And it definitely felt out of the realm of possibility, Keith Buckley performing with The Dillinger Escape Plan – until it isn’t.
Ex-Every Time I Die, and current Many Eyes, vocalist Keith Buckley hit the stage this past Friday (12th December) in Los Angeles, California, joining The Dillinger Escape Plan for two tracks – one cover of Nine Inch Nails‘ track “Wish,” and one TDEP original, “43%Burnt.”
Why this might strike as oddly ironic to some is due to the fact that three of the five previous members of Every Time I Die went on to form a new group, Better Lovers, enlisting ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan Greg Puciato, as the band’s vocalist, after Every Time I Die‘s spectacular implosion. But The Dillinger Escape Plan doesn’t seem too upset with the recruitment, remaining civil in the press, specifically in a chat with Metal Injection a few years ago, as he said that the band and Puciato‘s values no longer align.
