Even in years when they don’t release a million records and tour like demons, Australian psych-rock heroes King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard make their presence felt. This year, for instance, King Gizzard released their incredibly cool orchestral album Phantom Island and removed their music from Spotify, selling their dozens of albums as pay-what-you-want downloads on Bandcamp instead. They also staged the first-ever edition of their Field Of Vision festival in Colorado, where they covered the Dead Kennedys with Jello Biafra. Next year, King Gizzard will only play a few North American live shows, but they’ll make them count.
Today, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard announce that their Field Of Vision fest is coming back to Meadow Creek in Buena Vista, Colorado on Aug. 14-16. As with the first festival, the second Field Of Vision will feature King Gizzard themselves headlining all three nights. As with the first one, this Field Of Vision also has an extremely cool supporting lineup that covers a whole lot of stylistic ground. The acts on next year’s bill include Blood Incantation, Folk Bitch Trio, Upchuck, Die Spitz, Earth Tongue, Etran de L’Aïr, Lisa Bella Donna, and Pattie Gonia. Right after that festival, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard will return to Forest Hills Stadium in Queens to play a three-night residency. We don’t have any announced openers for those gigs. The first two King Gizzard sets, Aug. 20 and 21, will be rock shows. The third one, on Aug. 22, is billed as a “rave show.” That sounds fun as fuck. I’d much rather go to a King Gizzard rave than a Tame Impala rave. These are apparently the band’s only North American shows in 2026, so plan accordingly.
