Lil Uzi Vert has gone indie — sort of. The influential rapper’s new single out today was released independently but distributed by Roc Nation. According to a press release, Uzi joins Jay-Z and Rihanna as the only artists to be managed and distributed by Roc Nation, and they own their master recordings going forward. Uzi also signed a deal with Roc Nation Publishing. So, yeah, Uzi is no longer working with a record label, but they’re still working with one of the more powerful organizations in music.
As for the new song, it’s called “Chanel Boy,” and it finds Uzi’s voice wildly careening over production by ZeeGoinXrazy. Check out the music video below.
