Today, Brighton four-piece Lime Garden return with their first new music since releasing their debut album One More Thing last February. “Maybe Not Tonight” is an upbeat, angsty romp — a fitting conduit for any mid-week restlessness. The track is fueled by blog-rock angst, opening with a high-pitched honking that resembles a clown’s alarm clock. In the lyrics, Chloe Howard pushes her body to hedonistic extremes: “I just want to bop my head and smoke a cigarette/ I want to do it till my lungs go brown without any regret.”
The group described the frenetic, heartbroken single as “the soundtrack to a woman on the edge of making all the wrong choices, it feels like getting punched in the face with the morning after a night out.”
In an Instagram post the band also shared: “‘MAYBE NOT TONIGHT’ is yours and all yours. this was written at a very chaotic time in my life, going to the pub all the time and contemplating if i would ever love again (breakup vibez) we hope you use this song for all of your chaotic times, also to perhaps tell that mf maybe not tonight yeh ??”
