Last November we named Man/Woman/Chainsaw a Band To Watch, around the same time the London art-rock quintet shared their EP Eazy Peazy. Earlier this year they shared the singles “MadDog” and “Adam & Steve,” and today they’re back with another one called “Only Girl.” The new single also marks Man/Woman/Chainsaw’s debut release for their new label home, Fiction.
Vera Leppänen sings lead vocals on “Only Girl,” which mixes ’90s pop-rock hooks with some striking violin and piano flourishes. Leppänen explains in a press release:
“Only Girl” is our playful love song. Built around a ripping violin top-line and birthed from a grungy guitar jam, it gradually became something more boisterous and altogether more joyful — a total declaration of love. We had a lot of fun making it.
