NYC multi-instrumentalist Sabrina Fuentes releases simmering, gritty pop music as Pretty Sick. Today, she returns with her first new single in over a year. “Star” features production from Oscar Scheller, and it comes with an entrancing video.
“Star” has some pretty searing lyrics, including “Painless god I love being so famous” and “You’re a star you’re adored nothing ever hurts anymore.” On the guitar-driven track, Fuentes has her finger on fame’s intoxicating pulse — a drug pushed by the attention of others.
In the accompanying video directed by Lucca Lutzky, Fuentes lazes around. She lounges in the back of a car. She lounges on a bed. She tilts her head back over a balcony looking down upon LA traffic. She holds a bunny. Then the lights go out and silhouettes blur. There’s someone in a blue wig and then many people in blue wigs. We’re in a bizarre, unsettling new world of perception.
