Melbourne’s Radio Free Alice make nervy, insistent post-punk that recalls early-’00s dance-punk bands like Bloc Party and sometimes reaches back to the OGs who inspired those bands. Earlier this year, Radio Free Alice released their breakout EP Empty Words. Next year, they’ll open a few Australian shows for Geese. And today, they’ve got a very cool new single out in the world.
Radio Free Alice’s new track “Rule 31” seems to be a one-off, and it’s a good one. It’s a jittery rocker that the band recorded with Empty Words producer Peter Katis while they were touring earlier this year. In a press release, frontman Noah Learmonth says that they came up with the track while soundchecking. Check out the song’s Finn Morris-directed video below.
