Remember Sports Release New Single “Cut Fruit”: Listen

Remember Sports are sharing their new album The Refrigerator in February, the Philly indie rockers’ first LP in half a decade as well as their first for their new label home Get Better. We’ve already heard a couple of songs from it, “Across The Line” and “Bug“; both of those tracks are pretty promising, as is today’s new one “Cut Fruit.”

Remember Sports bandleader Carmen Perry says of “Cut Fruit” in a press release:

This is one of the first songs we wrote for the record. We’d been playing it on tour for a while, so had a really clear vision of the intensity we wanted to capture by the time we recorded it. It’s a song about self-image and sitting with some really painful feelings that aren’t going anywhere.

The studio version of “Cut Fruit” sounds great, with tons of bold, interweaving guitar parts that bolster Perry’s vocals without overpowering them. But it’s also the type of song you can just tell really rocks live: It’s the perfect tempo to get a crowd jumping in unison, and it culminates in a great sing-scream from Perry that reminds me a bit of Frances Quinlan or Karly Hartzman.
