Squeeze Share New Song “Trixies Pt. 2”: Listen

Back when they first started Squeeze in 1974, Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford wrote a concept album called Trixies together. It never came out. Tilbrook and Difford were teenagers then, and they weren’t ready to realize that vision. Their John Cale-produced self-titled debut ultimately came out in 1978, and then Squeeze became one of the UK’s biggest and greatest new wave institutions. Now, all these years later, Squeeze have finally recorded Trixies, and it’ll come out soon.

After they rediscovered the demo tape of their Trixies songs, Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford decided to finally record those songs properly and put them out into the world. We already posted lead single “Trixies Pt. 1,” and now they’ve naturally followed it with “Trixies Pt. 2,” another song about a mysterious and decadent club. Did they write that line about “rock stars of the ’80s” in the ’70s?

On their website, the band writes that their two “Trixies” songs “COULD have been Squeeze’s first-ever single,” so they’re selling a small number of 7″ singles with both songs. Hear “Trixies Pt. 2” below.

Trixies is out 3/6 on BMG.
