It’s been quite some time since there were any real signs of life from The Damned Things, and for now, it doesn’t appear that the supergroup are gearing up for a full return. That said, some unexpected digital housekeeping recently caught fans’ attention.
On Friday, December 19, The Damned Things‘ track “Trophy Widow” quietly appeared on digital streaming platforms for the first time. In addition, a limited-edition 7″ vinyl has been released via guitarist and vocalist Joe Trohman‘s website.
The vinyl pressing is limited to just 250 copies and features an intriguing detail: the B-side is listed as “File Missing.” No additional information has been provided regarding whether that track contains new material or is simply a placeholder title.
“Trophy Widow” isn’t a brand-new recording. The song originally appeared in 2011 as part of the soundtrack album for the video game Batman: Arkham City. That compilation featured exclusive tracks from a wide range of artists, including Daughtry, ††† (Crosses), and others. Until now, the song had not been widely available on streaming services, making its sudden arrival notable.
Despite the re-release, there’s no indication that The Damned Things are actively working on new material or planning a return. With Anthrax preparing for a new album cycle in 2026 and vocalist Keith Buckley currently focused on Many Eyes, the timing suggests that this release is more about archival availability than signaling renewed activity.
