The last Weekly Injection of the year includes three weeks of danceable yet sad industrial, weird-ass blackened doom, Elden Ring metal, and more! To the metals…
The week of December 12th
Health – Conflict DLC
Genre: Industrial
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: Loma Vista Recordings
Buy now on Bandcamp
This follow-up to 2023’s Rat Wars is a continuation of that record’s sound, but offers a little more fun. There’s still plenty of darkness, driving rhythms, and all that, but it feels a little easier to dance to. Enjoy a nice dance/cry here.
Reaping Asmodeia – Metempsychosis
Genre: Melodic/technical death metal
Origin: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Label: Cardinal Sin
Buy now from Reaping Asmodeia
Reaping Asmodeia are wrapping their year with this EP. It includes a trio of songs – one of which is a Chimaira cover – then the b-side you’ll find those three songs instrumentally. Take that frontman Eric Keyes!
Volumes – Mirror Touch
Genre: Progressive metalcore/djent
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: Fearless
Buy now on Bandcamp
If you’re in the mood for some smooth, almost-R&B metalcore then the new Volumes will be up your alley. There is a bit of a Sleep Token, etc aura throughout, but these guys have some heavier grooves and djentier djents.

Lychgate – Precipice
Genre: Avant-garde black metal/doom
Origin: London, England
Label: Debemur Morti
Buy now on Bandcamp
The weather is drab, so let’s get weird and evil with Lychgate. The band’s first album in seven years arrives with the return of drummer Tom Vallely and new bassist Tom MacLean and you can really hear the added Tom this time. This sounds like a nightmare in a reverberating void. Good, off-putting stuff.
Starscourge – Conqueror Of The Stars – Betwixt Sundered Seraphim, The Lands Between Bleed
Genre: Death/black metal
Origin: Malmö, Skåne, Sweden / Singapore
Label: Self-released
Buy now on Bandcamp
Elden Ring metal. Why not? There’s all sorts of fun and weird metal. This is the debut from this duo and it is a fully-forged, epic metal adventure of a record. In addition to the ten songs inspired by the game (I assume. I basically only play Animal Crossing.) you’re also getting a cover of Slayer‘s “Spirit In Black.”

Merry Riffmas! Abysmal Grief brought you a sinister a combination of doom riffs mixed with creepy organ for being so… bad? This really seems like more of a Halloween album, but enjoy it over some eggnog anyway!
