On Oct. 31, 2025, according to a flurry of social media posts online, U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, a Republican from Colorado, attended a Halloween party dressed in a costume best described as a caricature of traditional Mexican dress, including a sombrero. A woman who looked like Boebert appeared to be posing next to a man dressed as a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent.
What do you think of the costume @RepBoebert wore to a Halloween party in Windsor. Her date was dressed as an ICE officer. pic.twitter.com/SYKDrRJSAF

The sign mocked the stereotypical “Hispanic English” accent — a native Spanish speaker talking in English might pronounce the word “juicy” and the phrase “you see” similarly.
Snopes readers wrote in asking whether the photo was real — that is, if Boebert truly wore the costume depicted at a Halloween party.
While ABC News, the Chicago Tribune, People magazine and other reliable sources reported the photo was genuine and that it did depict Boebert on Halloween, Snopes had not heard back from the congresswoman’s office and was unable to independently authenticate the photos. We will update this story with any additional information that would allow us to provide a full rating on the claim if we receive it. We reached out to Boebert’s office and the X user who appeared to have initially shared the photo for comment on the matter and await replies.
The earliest version of the photo Snopes found online was posted in the late hours of Oct. 31 by the X user @mike4colorado. According to that post’s caption, Boebert wore the costume at a Halloween party in Windsor, Colorado. That fact was plausible — according to Boebert’s Congressional website, she currently resides in Windsor.
We attempted to verify that Boebert was in Colorado on Halloween in several different ways, including checking local news outlets and public image databases like Getty Images, but were not successful.
Reviewing the @mike4colorado X account provided more detailed information on the matter. In a reply to Trisha Calvarese, a Democratic candidate running for Boebert’s House seat, the user claimed his daughter had taken the photograph at a restaurant in Windsor called The Grainhouse. Checking the restaurant’s social media feed revealed it did indeed host a Halloween party on Oct. 31.
Another reply from the @mike4colorado X account shared another photo taken from a different, wider angle. Snopes compared that photo to images of The Grainhouse available online, and found they matched — the photos were taken at The Grainhouse.
The ABC News report claimed that Boebert (and her boyfriend Kyle Pearcy, who was reportedly dressed as the ICE agent) attended two events that night, and that a separate photo of the two in their outfits was taken one town over in Loveland, Colorado. ABC News spoke to a party guest who said that everyone was “in shock” over the costumes and “people avoided them.”
While Boebert’s office didn’t provide comment to Snopes, it did provide the following boilerplate statement to ABC News and other venues:
It’s a Halloween costume. Tell our Senators to vote for the CR and open the government. They are choosing to let millions of American families suffer.
