Earlier this year, the experimental New York rock band YHWH Nailgun impressed a whole lot of people with their debut album 45 Pounds. Since then, they’ve played a whole lot of festivals and built their name up a bunch more. Now, they’ve shared a very different version of “Weaving,” a track that the New York duo LEYA released last year.
LEYA is the team of harpist Marilu Donovan and singer/vocalist Adam Markiewicz, and they’ve collaborated with way-out types like Eartheater, Actress, and Liturgy. A few years ago, we posted their Julie Byrne team-up “Glass Jaw.” Last year, LEYA released their EP I Forget Everything. Since then, Chanel Beads has remixed their track “Corners,” and now YHWH have released their own version of the I Forget Everything song “Weaving.” The original is a serene meditation, and YHWH Nailgun turn it into a hazy post-punk groove. Listen to both versions below.
